Tru by Hilton Charleston Airport

I am a faithful Hilton patriot. Tru did not disappoint me. This hotel lived up to the Hilton standard without being luxurious. The breakfast was hot and tasty. The rooms were spacious. They don't have microwaves in the rooms, but they do have refrigerators. I loved the power controlled blinds in my room. This location was super convenient to walking to the convention center.

Overall... Leaving 5 stars but a 4 for the room itself. Staff has been incredibly friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and everything is in excellent working condition. The hotel has a different vibe with a pool table in the lobby and a modern whimsical feel and decor throughout the property. Small negatives... Rooms are a bit small and minimalist. No coffee maker (coffee available with breakfast)in room but does have a mini fridge. Small table desk and office chair. No couch, loveseat, or furniture style chair for relaxing in. Cleanliness looks to be a high priority. I like the plank tile flooring as opposed to carpeting. I've probably never been in a cleaner hotel. Just miss some of the room amenities and bigger size just a bit. Breakfast was typical of what you might find at a typical hotel. Eggs, turkey sausage, grits, fruit,cereal, yogurt, pancake maker, juice, milk, coffee, bread/bagels Would not choose for an extended stay, but that being said, If you can snag a great deal for an overnight or weekend stay, you won't go wrong.

The hotel is fine, had I not had the issue I did I would have enjoyed my stay and probably had been a loyal Hilton customer as I loved the stay, the hotel is decent, seemed clean (other than my issue), it is fairly updated, and I thought for the price it was a good choice. However, upon arrival and setting up all of my items, I went into the bathroom to find dirty underwear and towels hanging in my bathroom. You could tell that not only did they forget to dispose of those items, but they did a lazy job of cleaning the bathroom entirely as there was hair on the shower walls, and a dark stain on the bathroom wall right outside of the shower that was apparent it had not received any attention as it was thick and would have came off with some cleaner and a little scrub. The room was on the smaller side (but we had a baby, a dog and 2 adults). For the price however, I feel it was decent. Also the staff was very nice with everything, from the breakfast to the bathroom issue, to greeting with a smile every time we entered. Photo attached of the used underwear and towels. Had I not had the bathroom issue, would have loved my stay, but nobody wants to stay in a hotel with dirty underwear left from someone else in their bathroom. Do not recommend.

Loved the smell and location. Overall great hotel. Cons: 1. Room had trash in trash can 2. Was told upon arrival/check-in that there would be an incidental fee. This was not stated on their website. This should definitely be posted for individuals to see on the site to ensure that there's no confusion when guest arrive. 3. No microwaves in room
